To promote tourism in Gujarat, Sea Plane Service is going to start from 31 October. The Gujarat government announced the launch of this dream project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The first flight will be filled from Sabarmati Riverfront on October 31 between the Statue of Unity. It will be operated by private airline SpiceJet.
The Gujarat government stated that the MoU was signed on 22 July 2020 between the state's Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) and the Airport Authority of India. The agreement was for the first time in the country to start seaplane service. . In Gujarat, this sea plane service will be run between Sabarmati Riverfront, Ahmedabad between Statue of Unity, Kevadia Colony of Narmada district.

Why 31 October ?
31 October is the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The Prime Minister will celebrate 'National Unity Day' on this day in Gujarat.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) had also requested state governments of Gujarat, Assam, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and the administration of Andaman & Nicobar to propose potential locations for setting up water aerodromes to boost the tourism sector.

What will be the cost?
SpiceJet will run a 19-seat plane for this sea plane service, in which 14 passengers will be seated at a time. Apart from this, there will be two pilots and two crew members. Four daily flights will run between Ahmedabad-Statue of Unity. The fare per person of this airline will be around Rs 4,800.
It takes about 3 hours 40 minutes by road to reach the Statue of Unity at a distance of 198 km from Ahmedabad. But this distance from sea plane can be covered in about 1 hour. Four flights will be operated in a day.
