We worship Durga as mother for the destruction of evil. The success of our mother worship lies in the destruction of the demonic instinct that we have. There are two forms of Maa Durga - ruinous and merciful. So for that she become ruinous for the wicked, but she is also merciful for the virtuous. So, Hindus believe that when Maa Durga come from heaven,the message of her arrival is announced all over the world. They think that she can make our world more beautiful and happy.
